RESTORE YOUR TEETH WITH

DENTAL RESTORATION

SERVICES

Dental restorations are procedures that restore teeth. A dental restoration can repair a tooth that is worn, damaged, decayed, crooked, etc. The point of tooth restoration is to improve the function of the tooth and protect it from further damage or infection.

Many restorative and cosmetic dentistry treatments fall under the umbrella of dental restorations. At Homer Dental Center, we provide many restorative options, so we can tailor treatment to fit your individual dental health needs. Contact us today to learn about your options.

Types of Dental Restorations

There are many kinds of restorative treatments for your smile. Some are relatively simple and treat minor issues, while others are more intensive and can repair multiple missing teeth.

The tooth restoration services we offer include:

Dental Fillings

A dental filling is the most common kind of tooth restoration, as many people will have a cavity at one point or another. After the cavity removal, dentists use a filling material to repair the hole left behind. We offer tooth-colored fillings that match your natural smile.

It’s important to get a cavity removed as quickly as possible. Otherwise, the infection can continue to spread, and you may need a root canal to restore your tooth.

Dental fillings can be an essential part of maintaining your health. Watch more to learn about how a filling is completed.

Dental crowns can repair weak, cracked, chipped, or misshapen teeth. The crown is a tooth-shaped “cap” that permanently attaches to an existing tooth. It’s matched to the shade of your other teeth, so it looks and functions just like a regular tooth.

Dental Bridges

Dental bridges can restore both damaged and missing teeth, including more than one missing tooth in a row. The bridge contains replacement teeth that attach on either side to the adjoining teeth, hence why it is called a bridge.

You can see a dental bridge and how it works to replace a tooth with our video on dental bridges.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are a long-lasting option to restore missing and damaged teeth. A dental implant takes longer to heal than some other restorations, as it involves placing a titanium post into the jaw. Once it heals, the post functions like a tooth root.

While the process has healing time and more visits, dental implants are the most comparable to natural teeth, and they last 25 years or longer. Dental bridges usually only last 5–15 years.

We have a page on dental implants, and you can watch this video to learn more.

Dentures

For people with many missing or damaged teeth, dentures can be the right treatment to restore smiles. While traditional dentures work for some people, implant-supported dentures are a permanent alternative, as they are more secure and comfortable.

With implant-supported dentures, you only need a few dentures, usually called All-on-4®, to support an entire arch of teeth. Once the implants have been placed and your mouth has healed, the denture will attach to the four implants for a secure smile. The denture portion can be permanent or removable.

Inlays and Onlays

Some dentists offer onlays and inlays, which are custom restorations that replace a portion of your tooth. An onlay covers the top portion of your tooth only, and an inlay can cover any part of your visible tooth.

Inlays and onlays are made out of a tooth-colored resin, porcelain, or ceramic material. See how inlays and onlays are made with this SPEAR video.
